Popular Towns We Serve in Gloucester County

Gloucester County has homes from almost every chapter of South Jersey history. Woodbury became the county seat in 1786, and five of its neighborhoods are historic districts on the National Register. Pitman Grove started in 1871 as a Methodist camp meeting, and its cottages still line twelve avenues that fan out from a central circle. Mullica Hill keeps a Main Street of buildings from the late 1700s and 1800s. Most of the county, though, grew up after World War II. Deptford went from 17,878 people in 1960 to 24,232 in 1970. Washington Township later became the largest town in the county, and new subdivisions kept spreading across old farm fields.

That range is why no two jobs here look the same. A 1960s ranch needs different prep than a 2000s colonial, and an old cottage porch takes more brush work than either. Our crew handles interior painting for every era, plus exterior painting of siding, trim, doors and gutters. We paint homes across Gloucester County, including Washington Township, Deptford, Mantua and Monroe Township.

Painting Needs Across Gloucester County

Five decades of subdivisions

Drive across the county and you pass homes from the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s and 2000s, often within a few miles. Older houses carry many coats of paint that need scraping and spot priming. Newer ones usually still have thin builder paint and plain flat walls. We check what is on your house first, then plan prep and products around its age.

Open lots on former farmland

Farming is still a big part of Gloucester County, and many newer streets were cut from old fields. Those lots often have few tall trees, so siding, doors and decks take full sun most of the day. Sun fades color and dries out wood. We use exterior paints and deck stains with strong UV protection and pay extra attention to the south and west sides.

Older wood trim in the historic towns

The county's older towns have wood porches, window trim and clapboard that have been painted for generations. Wood like that moves with the seasons, so joints open and paint cracks. We scrape loose paint, sand edges smooth, prime bare spots and caulk open seams. Brushing trim by hand takes longer, but it keeps the old details crisp.

Garage doors and gutters people see first

In a subdivision, the garage door and the roofline often take up most of the front view. A faded door or chalky gutters can make a well kept house look tired. We clean, prime and paint metal and wood garage doors, refinish aluminum gutters to match the trim, and can add a fresh front door color to finish the look.

Gloucester County Painting Questions

Which parts of Gloucester County do you work in?

We paint homes across Gloucester County, including Washington Township (including Turnersville and its share of Sewell), the Sewell section of Mantua Township, Oak Valley in Deptford, and Williamstown in Monroe Township. Wherever you are in the county, reach out and we will set up a free on-site estimate.

What time of year is best for exterior painting here?

Late spring through early fall is the usual window. Paint needs dry surfaces and mild temperatures to cure well, and every product lists its own limits on the label. Most of the trouble comes from rain, heavy dew and cold nights, not the calendar. We watch the forecast closely and move days when the weather will not cooperate.

My house is in a historic district. Can I pick any color?

Not always. Some towns review exterior changes on older homes, and the rules vary from place to place. Before you choose colors, call your town's zoning or historic office and ask what applies to your street. Once you know the limits, we help you pick a scheme that fits them and paint to match.

Do you help homeowners choose paint colors?

We do. During the estimate we can talk through what works with your roof, brick, stone or flooring. For bigger changes, we suggest testing a few sample patches on the actual walls or siding. Colors look different in morning and evening light, so seeing them on your own house is the best way to decide.

Should I paint the inside or outside of my house first?

Start with whatever is failing. Peeling exterior paint lets water into wood, and that damage grows over time, so it usually comes first. If the outside is holding up fine, interior work can happen any time of year. We look at both during a free estimate and tell you what truly needs attention now.
